Like the title says its a "custom" sub, made by me. The motor is a used TC2+ motor on a 4 spoke cast basket. The "custom" includes the cone and the voice coil. The cone is made of 2 separate pieces of fiberglass glued to together by epoxy. Each of the pieces is made of 5 layers of 10 ounce fiberglass. The voice coil is 2 inches made of 24 gauge flat copper wire on a fiberglass former. I tried to make it an LMS type coil but it didn't work out quite the way I wanted to. Its roughly 4 layers and comes out to 4 ohms. The voice coil is attached to a generic spider that is 7.5 inches and was cut to make to make the voice coil fit (originally the hole in the middle was only for a 1.5 inch voice coil). The surround is made of foam (which is replacement for a JL Audio 10w0).
Its hard to see in the pictures but this is a single voice coil with the negative and positive ends opposite each other. That is the positive side is on one side of the terminals and the negative is on the opposite side on another terminal. Again, its hard to see but the soldering of the tinsel lead to the voice coil and then to the spade connector is not very good. For some reason when I soldered the tinsel lead to the terminal, I wasn't getting any read on DMM so I had to "improvise" and instead solder the tinsel onto a spade terminal.
The sub works like it should. Haven't really had a chance to put it through its paces but it should handle a decent amount of power and sound okay doing it. This is was my first attempt at a building a subwoofer as you can probably see. Cosmetically, its not very good, functionally its okay. I'd rather sell the whole thing together since I am going another route. If you got any questions feel free to ask. Thanks.
