I might be making a trade for 3 8" Infinity 860W Subs. I am debating on running all 3 sealed or just 2 ported. I don't have room to run 3 ported and still fit our huge baby stroller. What are your opinions?
i recently went from 2 12's ported to 3 sealed and i'm much happier with my set up. i lost some output down low but got a much better overall response. mines is also a daily set up with more of a focus on sounding good while being loud enough for me.
What subs? Assuming they are the Reference, you don't need a huge enclosure either way. Sealed or ported use about 0.5 ft^3 per speaker. If you go ported add another 0.5 ft^3 or thereabouts of volume for the port. Even all three speakers in a vented enclosure shouldn't take up more than 2.5 ft^3 of space accounting for all displacements. This is all based on some rough modeling with BBP6.
Im looking at the ones below, but I'm trying to trade my matching Soundstream Picasso Nano amps for some lower power 8's so I might end up with something else.
never was a fan of sealed. just dont like the way they respond so due to being bias i say ported.
