So i picked up a moped for $275 off the local craigslist, and all of my friends are expecting me to do something badass with it, so i couldnt let them down... here are the plans:
-Murdered out (all flat black, with smoked tails)
-Plexi the footboards, or whatever it is called where your feet go
-Blue underglow
-Hook up and amp, with some 3.5" pioneers
And of course the maybes:
-Saddle bags
-Harley Davidson or Caddy emblems
-Exhaust tip :lmao:
I attached some pics of:
-The beginning of the painting
-Smoked tail lights
-The front with the original paint (a navy blue kinda deal....)
Does anyone else have any good ideas? :dontknow:

My vote goes for taking off the governor, putting on an expansion chamber if it's a 2-stroke (and you can find one!) and putting on a better air filter.

^^^:agree:
I wouldn't murder anything out. But that's me. I feel murder'd out = play'd out. No Caddy emblems. No HD emblems. No saddle bags. No underglow. The Plexi floorboards could be cool if done right, but they'll probably get scratched up quickly.
What size is the motor? I've been into Ruckus' for a while, just haven't set down the $$$ to scoop one up yet.

40 is probably fast enough for those little wheels/tires!

if someone can give me detailed instructions on how to do this (if i took a buttload of pics), i would love to make this thing go faster then 32 MPH

Depending on the motor, you can usually change out the weights in the variator. You'll have to play around with it.
I worked on a newer Vespa 50cc a while ago. We got to go up to 40mph with some minor modifications.

oh yea, and any modifications for speed have to be low to no cost (like a few $ here and there is OK, but i dont want to dump a bunch of $$ into it

I know they're governed down, dunno where it is but it's there. You can wire the weights together for an easy mod that's quickly reversed. As to the expansion chamber, it's a double conical exhaust pipe that's acoustically tuned to help create a negative pressure wave in the cylinder and get more efficiency from the engine. As to a filter, you'll either have to find one that attaches to the carb directly or fab an adapter if there aren't any bolt on filters. K&N used to offer an extensive line of small engine filters, dunno if they've trimmed them down though.

That's what repair manuals are for. I'd never worked on a motorcycle before I had to replace the clutch in my H2. Bought a manual, read it and replaced it in about an hour. Shop wanted $250 to change it plus parts!

Mopeds? The motorized bicycles with pedals?
Oh, and FYI the old Indian bikes were originally mopeds.

No, the ones like he bought. I guess "Scooter" would be the correct term.
I want one of those old motorized bikes. They look so cool.

Like trying to pop a wheelie within 5 minutes of being on one for the first time and busting your ass, and hitting yourself in the nuts with the handle at the same time?

Ah, yeah I've seen 250cc scooters that are freeway legal and cruise at 70. I wouldn't be caught dead on one though. A full size road bike can get spooky on a grooved freeway, I can just imagine what a plus sized scooter would be like.

Yeah, I have had times where I scared the crap out of myself with my 18" wheels on my crotch rocket, so I couldn't imagine taking something with 5" wheels on the highway.

I think everyone who has stepped foot on one of those has done that, or something similar.

If you ever want to have fun, go down a Los Angeles at 65mph and have the engine seize solid. That's about the most fun you can ever imagine.

Well, I was on a Tulsa highway (B.A. Expressway where it crosses over I-44) And I locked up all 4 tires on my 92 @70mph in front of a Neon who wouldn't stop riding my ass. That was pretty fun.

Um, no. By H2 I mean Kawasaki 750 triple 2 stroke street bike. Insanity on two wheels.

I fell head first off my moped doing ~42, thank God i didnt die but i had a tennis ball swelling above my eye, 6 in cut across my eye brow, 6 inch cut inside my upper lip, road rash on both knees and elbows and blood leaking from everywhere.
about 2 weeks later, i was back at it.
The reason i fell was because of another moped rider (my friend) who got too close when we were riding and clipped me in the middle of a busy road, funny this is I fell in the path of a police car and 2 off duty paramedics.
