have a few questions about adding a battery in the back
My friend wants to keep his stock up front and throw a D1200 in the back by his amp. Gonna run 1800rms on his sub + 400 on highs, so 2200 total.
What exactly would I need on the + run from front to back? Just (1) fuse before each battery?
Should we ground the D1200 in the trunk or do a run of - from front to back?

ive been told to fuse at both batts of the positive run. but i ended up being short a couple fuses so i have only one run from my front to back batts with one fuse up at the front batt. but i would say if you wanted to do it properly fuse twice. but then again some might say dont fuse at all. its up to you though. i myself am a fuser

Not sure if I should ground it to the chassis or a run or - from up front.
And I always fuse just wanna make sure if I have to add anything else?

just a lil fyi, i dont even have a system in my toyota, and as soon as i grounded the front battery to the frame the trucks starting power was so much better. all im saying is if you have the tools you wont be hurting anything by drilling a hole in your frame and bolting a ground to your vehicles frame. i was simply doing the whole ground thing for charging purposes cause i was bored.

i have my front batt grouned to the frame and engine with 1/0, 1/0 pos from alt to front batt and have 2 1/0 runs from front battery to back batterys (one pos one neg), rear batts are also grouned to the strut tower bolts.
fuses :
200 amp after front batt 200 amp before rear batts, fuses off rear batts to each amp
HERE IS A PIC OF MY REAR SET UP, SORRY XS POWER PICS NOT INSTALLED IN THIS PIC I WILL GET ONE SOON

run a ground from to back battery, but yes also ground front batt to frame, but you really can't over do it so you can also ground the back battery to the frame on top of the front to back run

Front battery is already grounded to the frame. I guess we'll do both a run of - and ground the rear batt.
And for fusing, for 2200rms how big of a fuse would I need by the upfront and rear batt? 220 for each one?

You should fuse on both ends on the power run, less then 12" from each battery. You fuse the battery in the back for the same reason you do in the front, encase of a short. You should also do a ground run but if you have to, you can ground the front battery to the frame and rear battery to the frame. The front battery is grounded to the frame from the factory but should be upgraded.

For a daily driven vehicle it really is crazy not to fuse coming off of the front battery and just before the back battery. Just think if you were to get into a vehicle accident and your power wire got cut or nicked. Then you would have two batteries power live in your vehicle. Not a nice thing to happen!!

Not a nice thing to happen!!That, or even if the power wires are not properly ran and something wears through the casing and shorts. Anything could happen, so its better to be safe the sorry. Everyone should look at what happened to Eric Alexanders van.......
