This one has 33% more output FETs than the SAZ-3000D. We moved to a quad transformer setup and the output inductors will be of the solid core variety.

We implemented a few other things that we picked up along that way that could have used improving on the SAZ-3000D as well (boring stuff).

No - it is not for cost cutting. We found that in rare cases the stranded wire would rub together, short out, and kill the amp - we changed it to prevent that possibility. We are using two very big inductors with large solid core wiring on them of the appropriate size for the power :)

That makes sense. I know that some outfits use solid core inductors to save money since the core increases the potential of the inductor which allows for lower turns of wire. Since an iron ring or rod is cheaper than the copper it replaces...

Makes sense to use it for reliability purposes though, I know that electron flow through inductors can cause the coils to vibrate. I've heard that in more than one PC PSU in my time.

Indeed - we basically thought of all the things that failed in 3000s and tried to find solutions for them. Hopefully it pays off with an even more reliable product!
