Default current build progress

more pics to come as money trickles in and new idea's form.

the platform is a 94 suburban k-1500 with a 6inch lift on 34's with 4.88 gears, a heavy duty rebuild of the 4l60e tranny, all new suspension, and about 200lbs of reinforcements to the front suspension. everything has been rebuilt or replaced but the engine with over 200k on it. it will get a new power plant this spring. its to cold atm to do it. im allergic to the cold . im currently working out weather i want to add 2 sdc2.5 10's or 1 hdc3 10 along with 2-4 more aq pro 6.5's. 2 more batts are still to be added along with some more insulation work and darkening of the rear windows tint. the 2nd row seat might also be getting replaced with two captain chairs. a front mount and rear mount camera, 7inch display and recorder will be installed once the weather breaks aswell.

lol btw this suburban does not have rear defroster. some good freezing weather has already come and i found out that the 2 top ports on the sub box that so happen to fire into the barn door windows work as good rear window defrosters

the subs are AQ hdc3 12d1's. each wired series on itself and all wired parallel.

front door speakers: 2 aq pro 6.5's and 2 boston acoustic sr50 pro tweeters per door. i got 1 set of tweeters without housings so i modded an old jl tweeter house to hold them.

rear door speakers: powerbass 4xl 6.5 extreme duty. very impressive sounding, look great but cant beat the aq 6.5's money vs sound.

power blocks that i built

amps: 1 planet audio bb first gen 150.2(running front door speakers), 2 planet audio bb first gen 75.2's(running rear door speaker), 1 diablo prototype amp. not sure how much power its running. i havent clamped it yet. its hooked up to the 3 hdc3 12's at a .89ohm load beating the sh_t out of them.

future plans for the amps are to replace the planet audio amps with new AQ amps. if the new amps ever get released.

are your doors ported? lol

and why mix sub sizes? or are you planning on putting the 10s in a center console build or something?

the doors have the ports there simply to cover the holes for now. i had other speakers in it that matched with a 5 1/4 but the new aq pro6.5's sound far better and i didnt want to take the chance of the 5 1/4's in the same enclosure messing with the aq 6.5's. those are just temporary until i fester up a better idea of what to do there. at the very least they are currently allowing fresh air to get inside of there for the speaker to stay i a little cooler. i was thinking leaning a lil toward some super tweeters for those spots but i dont think they would sound very good since that 3rd hole so happens to fire directly into the side of the front seats. another option that i have been thinking about is to make some stenciled back lit tinted panel of AQ to put there wired up to the amp activation wire so they will light up AQ when the system is turned on. all idea's atm.

as for the back doors, yes the holes are meant to be there. those are the powerbass 4xl 6.5's extreme duty. they got very hot when i first installed them. there was no air moving around behind the mounting so i dremeled out some holes to allow cool air in. they dont even get warm now. im thinking about installing some channel plexi in the holes just so they will look better.

as for the 10's or single 10 to add, at first my plan was to have a 4rth 12. as it is i can no longer fit in unless if i redo some stuff. i have another thread going atm about that so i can decide if thats really what i want to do. being hdc3 12's im sorta thinking 1 hdc3 10 should mix well but i might be wrong.

also updated the description of my gear above. sorry for the delay on that. i was to tired last night to care.

well a new idea just came up. currently i have the subs facing the barn doors with the amps in front of the box. i could move the subs forward and point them at the back of the rear seats still having about 12inches between the seats and the subs allowing me to mount atleast 1 if not 2 more hdc3 12's on top of the 3 hdc3 12 box and put all of the amps in the far back. then wall off around both boxes sealing off the rear section from the second and first row seats.
i did all of the measurements and this can work. omfg is that box going to be painfull to move around though. just about 150lbs of speakers and atleast another 80bs of box. this is going to be fun.

just got done with this lil project. my brittle knobs and switches for the rear environmental controls broke and fell out so i reworked the control panel with something a lil more helpful toward ensuring that im the only person smoking in MY suburban.

the wires are ran for back lighting when the headlights are on but i ran out of leds so the lighting will be added sometime later on.

profile clarus 1200 gut shot of a new addition to the system. its an ab class amp that im hoping is big enough to power all of my front speakers on its own. then ill need just 1 more amp for 2 8inch mids that i plan to put in the very back.

im still working on reconditioning the case. ill post finished pics once im done.
