Default area51's Build log

I have gone through quite a few boxes without a build log so I now decided start one. I figured that this is the best way to capture the build for reference if I need to.

So for my first box log it will be for my four DD SW6.5s. I enlisted the help of Pete from PWK Designs. He just happen to have had a hand in designing the prototypes. What he came up for me was a transmission line box with the port facing rearward on the passenger side. He found that these sub work best in multiples only, so onto the build.

Cut pieces ready to go

Dry fitted together

T-line dry fit together

Now glued together

These were from yesterday. Took more pics today of the finished box. will upload the finished pics tomorrow. Tomorrow is the best part of the build, testing.

That's what Pete called it. And I quote "Fire the enclosure to the rear with the mouth of the transmission line along the passenger side." And why would it not be a t-line box? I have seen t-line boxes that are similar to this one and also ones that are different.

And thanks for the props.

Yes, that's right a tapered t-line, thanks for the clarification.

Was able to upload the finished pics today. And tested the box this morning. I am impressed at how low this sub/box setup gets. It actually surprised me. It has decent range but peaky which is the characteristics of the subs I've learned. Still need to break the subs in and try different genres of music.

I guess it is all in the terminology, but I thought that design was called a folded horn? How would rate the sq of this setup?

Yep, it's all in the terminology. I also heard that it could be a folded horn. As for the SQ part, I like that it's tight and punchy. Low notes are there, just not as loud as the higher tones. The SW6.5s blend in well with the front stage.

Time for a new box build. Just got these in from Kent at Security and Sound Systems. Subs are Digital Designs 2508, three of them. Box plans are from Evan (Surreal) at Woofer Warehouse. Box will be a front loaded horn. If you need a solid box design check out Woofer Warehouse, Evan's designs has not let me down.

I'm doing a 4 SW6.5 build right now too, under the seat of my truck. What did you use to paint your box?

Nice box too by the way . Mine seem to get a little cleaner and a little louder every week.
