Default 2008 Hyundai Tiburon Build Log

First off, this won't be starting until May/June, but I just wanted to go ahead and open a topic .

I have nothing particularly set yet, other than I plan to do 2x 15"s in a ported box that will be roughly 8ft^3. The 15s will more than likely be DC LVL4 XLs or maybe LVL5 (not sure I need the extra power handling for the extra money :P). The build will be less than $4k. It will be in a fiberglass enclosure by HHR_Ed. The amps may be DC, but I'm seeing who else I can touch base with to do some comparisons. I have no idea about the batteries I'll need, but according to Mazda6i07 I need 4 batteries for the amps, which is about right. I'll be getting a 250 amp alternator from Mechman (Rhino series I think?). The wiring will be Headshok's 1/0 competition grade. The head unit will be the stock double-din w/ GPS Kenwood from Hyundai mainly because it looks quite slick and it'll save money . Organized summary below .

Subs:
2x Lvl4xl or Lvl5 DC 15"

Alternator:
Mechman 250 Amp

Enclosure:
~8FT.^3
Fiberglass by HHR_Ed

Wiring:
Power/Ground - Headshok's Competition 1/0 ga.
Speaker wire - Undecided

Amps:
2x 2.5kW+ RMS - Undecided (DC's 3000.1 or something similar)

Batteries:
4x Amp Batteries (XSPower maybe?)
1x Yellowtop (to replace main)

Head Unit:
Stock Kenwood GPS Double-din

Budget:
~$4000

If anyone has recommendations for the things I am undecided on, I would love to hear them The picture below is what the trunk looks like (basically) and the projected arrangement of things .

The batteries will be double stacked using some form of brackets, and the amps will be laying flat or sideways mounted against the rear of the car. Given I haven't quite decided fully on everything :P.

Thanks!

One of the problems I have to deal with, I was thinking putting some small fans to circulate the air, or do some liquid cooling (it would look crazy )

2.5kw would treat the xl's nicely assuming you know what you're doing.

Plus, I don't think you'll NEED 4 batts persay. 2 D3100's or hc2800's could do nicely also.

Plus how much space is in one of these vehicles? 5-6kw takes up quite a bit of space with all the batts and wire necessary.

Could always go with a Stetsom 5k2D 1 ohm version, then you only need 1 amp

WRMS Power (1 ohm) to 12.6 V: 5.475 Watts
WRMS Power (2 ohms) to 12.6 V: 3.600 Watts
WRMS power (4 ohms) to 12.6 V: 1.985 Watts

Personaly I would do 2 12"s or 1 15". I think you will be more happy in the long run. Proper Box > cone area.

All good suggestions . I'll address each:
Scapelli21 - 1. I thought 2.5 or 3kw sounded about right for the XLs. 2. Wasn't sure if I NEEDED them, I'll have to get some more opinions on it . 3. There's not a ton of space which is one of the issues I'll be facing, however I think it should accommodate everything perfectly (screw you luggage :P).

C3 Customs - If I did go that amp and the XLs, I'd have to make sure I'm only giving it the 12.6 volts otherwise I might wear them down quickly, but if I just got the LVL5s it would be perfect , good suggestion .

PSI Smalls - I got your number, will do .

grimreper912003 - Well, I think it would be easier to do those options, but A. I like a challenge and B. I like the sight of 2x 15"s :P. I think the box will be exactly what I need.

Anybody else got any ideas?
