Just wanted some more insight before I tear apart my truck and never look back. I've done simple installs such as small amp and speakers in my old YJ and single subs here and there, but nothing of this magnitude.
Truck is a 2003 Dodge 2500 Cummins 6 spd 2wd that I've owned since 2007. With around 230K miles I just rebuilt the whole front end, brakes, new tires, and have made my payments on everything for the month. So time to drop some coin on long awaited audio! And interior!
What I have:
-Pioneer AVH X5500BHS (installed)
-SAX 100.4 D
What I plan on:
If you can't tell, it will be a full active system. Will sound deaden the back wall, rear floor, and doors. JBL 6.5 in all four doors and the tweeters in the sail panels. it irks me that I will have an unused channel on the 50.4, but o well. Dont have the room, or placement, for a proper 3 way. Apparently its a big nono to run rear tweeters. even though ive seen a lot of high end cars with them or systems with rear coax. I want my rear passenger to hear the highs as the sub pounds them un the ass lol. I've always liked the idea of a 'stealth' install. Really
didn't want to buy a foxbox, but it's the lesser of the evils. don't want to pay 500 for a custom box and not 100% on building my own.
1/0 welding cable from each battery. One to the mono and one to the two 4 channels. Amplifiers ground back to frame. Batteries ground to frame. Upgraded 220a alternator and charge wire to 4 guage.
Since the interior will be completely removed. I will be installing 2010 Ram leather seats instead.
Please, by all means, critique my build and ideas before I spend cash. I only plan on doing this once and the right way.
