Default Semi~Respectable Build...Still Polishing Turds!

Ok, I have just upgraded the build from the old 242k Mitsubishi Mirage (still going but since I have better ride the Mitsu is going to be playing '2nd fiddle.'
Equipment will be:
1. The Clarion VX709 from last car and the Kenwood w/o bluetooth I purchased from a member here (thx!) will get swapped to old ride.

2. I'm going to start with the repaired CDT 6.5's comps [the one woofer had a bad coil lead, so I soldered it and the new dustcap is a flat black ping-pong ball! - all damage done by previous owner, not on here] and tweets on the MB Quart passives (purchased from member here also, Thx!) in the doors to start. Considering upgrading to 8's once I pull apart the doors. {8" Flutes? Wool keeps me warm...lol}

3. Rears...Replace the 6x9's or convert to 6.5 components, not sure yet, but I have enough spare 6.5's to try. I'd prob prefer door mounts to the current deck locations, once again, I haven't investigated fully yet.

4. Amps : MB DSC 1500.1d and PP Phantom 900.4 - active ~may be in the future with an additional amp~
5. Sundown SA15 D2 in ~3.5 tuned to 35hz (Your suggestions on sub/port firing direction would be great!)

Now some pics to start this off:

1st the car 2001 Malibu 143k - Almost perfect, inside and out, besides the paint defect spots on the hood.

Here is the Dexcool issue I fixed over the weekend, but she may still need a water pump or intake manifold gasket. Too soon to tell yet but either repair is something I can handle once I pinpoint the issue.

Here is the amps in the 1/4 million mile Mitsu

And mock up of the enclosure, designed for the Mitsu, but since the wood is partially cut for this mock up I may have to go with it for now. Fiberglass floor and side panels in a forward facing may be in the future (Malibu has the 60/40 folders.)

I'll prob throw the 2 E-10's in 1st and the amps/wiring. The 15 will come next, maybe I can alter the design enough to get a better fit in this ride.

Please, suggestions, comments, complaints, are all welcome!

Default Ok, 2nd Installment, and less done than planned.

I had to do the dreaded 'intake manifold gasket' repair that affects almost all of these 3.1 and 3.4 engines.
This one made it to about 138k before that nasty Dexcool blew out the POS plastic gasket GM uses. Coolant leaks into the oil and makes hella mess. I purchased this car 15 months after the leak started, and although it wasn't severe they amount of build up in the was pretty nasty.
The 4+ hour hang up was a stuck bolt in the lower rear valve cover, so a job that SHOULD have been completed in 5-7 hours took 10+ on Saturday and a few today to finish. The good news is repair is looking quite successful, more so figuring this is the 1st time I did this, or had a GM for that matter.
Now some photos:
Big 1.5 Started, but I got a GM bolt extender/adaptor thing @ pepboys and the crappy bolt is too big to fit into the battery. I luckily found a long bolt that worked, but this took way too long to straighten out.

Pics of the offending bolt and the package it came in:

Close up of the rig job for now and Thx to Sonic for the 0 gauge!

If anyone has one of these motors they may be familiar, but this alt had a smaller gauge wire on it than my 1.8 Mirage did...No wonder why people with GM's have dimming issues. Man could they have spared just a little bigger wire

Since I'm kinda just thinking out loud here, this is turning out like an un-interrupted log so far, I'll just continue.

1. That Lightning Audio bolt being a different thread pattern than my battery may have been a good thing since the extended type bolt seems to work well. I never had a side post battery before so I'm not to sure of my best plan of attack.

2. I have an RF t600-2 and the MB Quart dsc 1500.1 available to use, since I will be using the 1 SA 15 D2 the RF amp should be sufficient? I could bridge the RF for 600 @ 4 ohms or run 2 ohms stereo. I'm not sure if the cleaner RF is the better choice or the larger MB. I can probably experiment with both.

1/4 million mile Mirage is donating 0 gauge wire and returning to 4.

Default Ok, more progress...

Head unit swap complete - "Logical Progression" for any LTJ fans (probably the only one who knows this reference.)
1. Factory Out

2. Kenwood purchased off here held me over until the swap (Going in the old 1/4 million Mirage, she works fine but hates Android phones.)

3. Clarion VX709 from the Mirage installed.

0 Gauge swapped for 4 from the Mitsu

Stupid Pep Boyz bolt that didn't fit anywhere replaced.

RCA and Front speaker wires - Factory 4x6 for now (YUCK!) + no rear yet.

Said Wiring behind/under back seat + Plus free cheap crimper I found under the seat.

Wire out the Azz with Mitsu in the background

Large space in need of temp lows

Subs out of other car and makeshift amp rack filling the void.

Temp wiring and amp rack pics

Thoughts:
THIS ALT/BATTERY combo SUX
These 4x6's need to go.
I need rear fill.
This trunk and car is much larger than I had and the 2 E 10's aren't cutting it.
The electrical in this car is much less than my turd.
The SA 15 and alt may save me...
I am leaning towards 2x SA 12's.
