Default new 12's box for the suburban

after 7 years, water damage and i used mdf on the first box i decided to remake my 12's box. the new box is slightly larger but yet offers slightly less cuft. the original is 10.23cuft. the new box is 10.15cuft. im using 13ply birch. doubled top, front and back plates. doubled up port. all doubled surfaces are bonded using aircraft fiberglass resins. currently its just pieced together so i can see where i am with it. im taking my time with this 1. this is about 2 weeks so far. my plan is to have it done around the 2nd week of sept. when i take the old sub box out ill also be rebuilding the aft frame before the new box goes in.

It will still be my same old audioque hdc3 12's. Yes they are so old they are audioque subs. Still play like new. Still very stiff. Coils are even shiny fresh looking.

Box looks good, going to keep an eye on this. Might be getting a Suburban.

this is pretty much the improved version of the box that already in there. the placement and design of the box has proven to be very good. painful enough that most people that have gotten in it dont stay in very long. given the room i was tempted to do a wall, however i also use this to tow my boat and trailor so i wanted to keep the ability to use the back windows. glad that i did because it sounds great. fair warning though, pack the barn doors full and use plywood to cover the area' that the panels are. remove the very back dome light, rear speakers&brackets. all of that got destroyed from the bass. also reseal and over seal the barn door windows. the bass popped both of those out already. i resealed them in and then used 3 layers of fiberglass with matting over the edges to ensure they stay in. last but not least get brand new barn door weather stripping. the slightest wear on that and air blows right past it.

as luck would have it all of my issues started acting up today. so i spent the day inside in tons of pain. no progress today. hopefully tomorrow will be better.
maybe its a good thing since im still debating weather i need 1 more brace in the center of the top plate. the old box has it but only because the mdf was to weak and i used poles instead of the good cut out braces like this box. i cant help but to wander if the 2x4 in the center of the old box helps with air flow or not which would be the only reason to add it on the new box.
