Default Project Sandy - 07 Altima Sundown build

Hey all,
Decided to throw up my current build log on here as this will be the most power I have ran to date, I'm sure there will always be upgrades!
I've been throwing different setups in my trunk for the past few months and just can't get satisfied with the amount of power I've been getting. I love the lows and want to move some air so I've decided to go with a pair of Zv4's on a SAZ-5000. Not aiming for any numbers but more of that gut feeling, hair trickin bass

But a quick history to see where I'm coming from.. Here is my Sandy

Started off with a pair of SA 12s on a SAZ-2500 and loved it. Had it for about a year and then moved out of state so pulled it all out and sold it.

More recently I've gone from a Sundown sae-1500 on a 12" SA Ultra. Was nice but only got me thinking of a stronger system setup as soon as I wired it up and heard it.

Then I wanted to try CT Sounds so I sold the amp and got me a CT sounds 4K along with a Meso 12" sub. Wired the amp at 2ohm so got ~2K out of it. Sounded really nice and clean but I couldn't reach the lowwws that I wanted to (box was tuned to 36hz so that probably played a role I'm sure). I tried flipping the box to the rear, into the cabin, sideways but nothing. Fun setup, I would be inclined to try CT sounds again (looking at you Team 7K amp )

So after that, I wanted to go back to Sundown. I had purchased a pair of yard sale Zv3's with the intention of using them for my current build. So I started mocking up boxes and threw one of the Zv3 into the single box in the mean time. What a difference it made! Same amp wired at 2ohm and it banged niceee

Got rid of the 4K and got me a SAZ-5000

Again what a difference that made!

So now to my current stage of the build. I have pulled out the system, designed a new box and got to work.

Upgraded the rear deck to some CT Sounds 6x9, they sound great!

Some Second Skin always!

This altima has the Bose system so I spliced into the factory amp for my amp signal using an Audiocontrol Lc2i. Works like a charm.

Now for electrical - I upgraded the stock front battery to a XS Power D3400 and have 2 runs of 4/0 welding wire running through the cabin. Not sure how I made them both fit but they did! 2/0 Sky High from the fuse to the battery.

Im still trying to decide if I want to keep my spare in the trunk. I have 2 group 31 AGM batteries and mocked them up in the spare well in the meantime to see if I liked them like that. Might pull em out and set them on the sides of my box so I can keep my spare tire. But we'll see

There was a deal on some zv4's so I sold the zv3's to upgrade and waiting on them to arrive at the moment. I designed my box using torres calculator at 4cu tuned to ~31hz with 64in^2 of port. A little smaller than recommended but in reading the countless threads on the subs, seems like the subs will work great in smaller enclosures. Guess theres only one way to find out!

Used some smooth pine for the build to save some weight compared to mdf

Major props to all the box builders on here. It looks simple on paper but once you get down to it, measurements are everything haha. Some parts of the box are a hair away from fitting perfectly so I sanded down some edges but scuffed up the box. I intended to stain the box a dark ebony color but not sure now with all the scuffs..

This is were I currently am. Have to finish up the box, waiting for my subs to come in, and have to wire up everything up.
Thanks for reading so far!

Nice gear! Def tuned in for more & that box looks great none the less. Are you expecting anything less or more out of this setup since your last one?

Thanks guys! I'm hoping for more output on the low side of things (under 34hz) so that's my only expectation. That and for the amp to be ok at 0.5 ohm with the 2 batts!

2013 Altima here. I have the same setup in my spare tire well, except with only one d34. Hows the car performance and sag with the two 31s?

Keep up the good work
