Default Enclosure Build: 3 8's underbed kerfed port, laminated

This enclosure will be for 3 8's that I picked up at the PE sale a while back...kerfed port...laminated...should be a bit different.

It's been all too long since my last enclosure build...let's get started.

Clamped 2 pieces of mdf together to make the base (since this box is for me I just grabbed whatever I could find around the shop):

Getting the kerfed piece cut:

Back and sides going on:

Rounding over the port-end of the kerfed piece:

Mostly put together (again splicing two pieces for that front piece):

Cleaned up a bit:

Great looking box so far, but I do have a question. If you kerfed the port, why did you still put in a "45"? Isn't that the purpose for the kerf? Just asking, thx.

Mostly for smoothness and reinforcement on the inside so the weakened area thats kerfed isnt the only thing between the inside and outside of the box...id want to glass the kerf cuts and smooth it out if I didnt put a simple 45 in there...which would take time and money. I definitely could but didnt want to get into all of that.

I have a pretty different design that I came up with where I will be doing this tho...stay tuned down the road for that
