Default Ancient common ground amps

Amp Name:
Sonic Wave/Sonic Boom?
I think these amps were made in the late 70s/early 80s
by a gentleman named Tom Stack in Michigan. He was a tech at ESL in Madison Hgts.

Specs:

Common ground input/output
I believe they are 20wpc

If anybody has ANY info on these amps or if you have ever even seen one, please pm me

Probably because they were made locally here in MI.
The guy that made them is still around but won't return calls sadly enough. I think these are the little brother to the Sonic Boom,.called Sonic Wave. I have had them since I was a young man but unfortunately my memory isn't what it used to be. I do recall having a 74 Charger in 1984 with 2 Pyramid PB300s running 2 comp horns under the front seat, 2 6 1/2 Jensen axials in the kicks and 2 8" Pyramid midbasses in the rear deck. Took out the rear seat back and made an enclosure into the trunk with 2 JBL 12s from pro cabinets. Two Sonic Booms(w/hi-level input) were run off of a series iv Hifonics Mercury(22wpc). The hu was apull-out Kenwood 838. Great cass. deck! lol People didn't even know what bass was back then. The best part is that the amps were mounted INSIDE the enclosure. LOL

For the time, it was out of this world. Thinking back with a much more experienced ear, it probably hit close to 135. Music of course, those horns were 110db 1w1m! Had at least 80 going to them. And, unfortunately, I barely have any pics of the car, let alone the system. Who knew? Oh, I forgot to mention the wide dispersion Radio Shack tweeters mounted in the grills of the subs. Wtf?

I think my Proton D275 is common-ground as well. The built-in speaker-level inputs shares the same ground which is not compatible with today's stuff.

I remember those! If memory serves, you could just use the positive speaker leads and ground the negative input lead on the amp. Good stuff!

Here is the Proton... it has a special "dynamic power on-demand" circuit so its max power rating actually means what it means. One of a kind... no other amp company has the same design besides NAD but that's home audio. 75 watts rms x 2 @ 4 ohms, over 300 watts per channel on short bursts. Checkout the size of the two capacitors
