These mids are very nice. Tons of midbass, play well down into the 50hz range (with enough power), and get a lot higher than the rated 5500hz. I first installed these in the rear deck of my CL in custom baffles to replace the factory 6x9's. At the time, I had Polk/Momo MMC6500 components in the doors. Initially, I had no external crossovers, so the speakers were playing as high as they could. Unfortunately, this ruined my staging, since these play so high. When I added the PG RSD xovers to these mids, it helped greatly, but still the xover point on those crossovers was too high. So, when I pulled the mids out for my 1st comp, I wasn't running any rear speakers and didn't mind it.
Then, I replaced the mids from the MMC6500's with the Bravox mids, and they immdiately made a difference. Then, I added some more power, and WOW... These things are awesome, once you add some power. I'm probably running about 80-90 watts per side, and these sound great on all types of music: from country to rap to rock. If you don't need your bass or if someone's just looking for some nice mids, these are great. Just make sure you have some power for them, and
Sound Quality: 8/10
Great sound, but a lower rating since I haven't heard some of the best
Power Handling: 8/10
Rated at 100rms, but I'd guess they'll handle more. Again, this is because there are higher rated speakers, but these do their jobs very well
Once you give them some power, they're absolutely awesome. I can't wait to deaden the doors to get the most out of them
This section is getting more to the top end of their rated range, and they do very well up to probably 6-7khz. If you don't want them to do this, you'll need an external crossover, or something else to limit the signal.
Not supposed to play that high, since they're dedicated mids, but they do anyway, and do it very well.
These mids play everything very clearly. These are the absolute clearest speakers I've ever heard. Given my limited experience, but these are still very impressive.
Build Quality: 10/10
These are very well built. Very beefy for 6's.
I got them in a trade deal, so I can't completely comment on this, but for me at least (in my trade) I feel like I got a great deal.
Just a note for anyone interested in these mids: They WILL NOT fit in a traditional 6.5" speaker ring. The baskets are too big to fit in a 6.5" baffle ring. You will have to make your own, but they're well worth the effort.
