Default going budget? hifonics brutus 15s. do it, no lie.

BET! i got these subs for free to use till my 3hp 15s are built and i tossed em on my massive 3k at 4 ohms (900 rms per woofer) in 10 cubes tuned to 28 hz and these things ****ing wang. the smell to holy hell after 2 minutes of play time but for some reason, they just will not blow! (although its just a matter of time)

all in all thought, if your on a budget, have the right power and enough space for a large enclosure, go for a pair, they really arnt too bad honestly.

let the hate begin

Like you said tho that smell....I can't see them lasting very long. But low power subs...Prolly efficient somewhat so they will get loud on low power. Durability/dependability is some reasons why we bass heads pay more for the better stuff but I'm not surprised they are decent. I'd pick them over boss and some others out there for budget.

How many times have they got smelly? Can you see the coil at all? What about the impedance reading from them?

What music are you playing with them? If it's not decaf, I would say there is a good chance you are clipping them from the audio source, which should, to my knowledge, still show a stable voltage reading on the electrical system.

What is the box tuned to? Port area? Box size?

Playing below tuning?

Any idea what frequencies you are playing at to get them stinky, or is it any frequency?

Got any pics of them and the box?
