Okay my first impression is I was mad as hell. after everything i heard from these forums i thought it was going to blow my socks off. So I set the gains on the Sundown, then turned it down the same way i turned down my HX2 on the HU (it has a setting from -24 - 5 for the sub output...i always ran my HX2 at -15 so i put it on -20) and turned it on. granted i didnt go past volume 15/40 but this thing was comparable if not the same as my HX2. More SQ definitely, but just as loud.
Then I went to the trunk.....it wasn't even moving! I had to check my connection just to make sure it was hooked up right. For the longest i thought It might be blown or something was wrong, but when i turned the amp on and off from the HU I could definitely tell a difference in the lows. so it was playing, but laughing at me and the break-in period power i was giving it
lol so I turned it up a little more and have since been breaking it in. It is definitely getting louder day by day. Can't wait to hear what it can do when i actually make the cone move!
So to summarize it up, at low volume, when i first got it, at a much lower than RMS rating power, it is comparable to the RF HX2 but wayyy more SQ. after listening to the HX2 for so long it almost seemed like the HW was hitting the notes before the speakers could haha. But i'm definitely confident that at higher powers and after its broken in it will murder my old setup. Thanks Steve!
Edit: After using it for a while I have turned up the volume and it is REALLY loud. I wonder though if it is seeing full 3000 watts...since I set the gains i have had to turn the output to the subwoofer down on the HU. There are certain notes that it sounds sort of harsh, but it is probably just the song. Generally it is a great SQ mix with a LOT of SPL....it shakes everything in my car!
