Well this is my first time putting together a review for a sub so bare with me. If there are any questions you have please feel free to contact me. Thanks!
When I first received my Omegas I was first interested into seeing how well the packing was. I was very happy to see the subs were packed very well. Each sub was shipped in a 12x12x12 box with the sub being fastened to a plywood top plate with Styrofoam spacers to hold it in tight. The sub itself was sitting in a prefab Styrofoam bottom. After unpacking my sub I was impressed with the build quality. It was excellent and I was very surprised to see very clean glue joints and the quality of the parts it was built with.
After unpacking the Omega I was pleasantly surprised. The large motor structure and custom basket blew me away. To top it off the cone on the Omega is awesome. It uses a tall roll double layer high density foam surround. A carbon fiber front and pressed paper back create a very strong cone. The driver was designed with the intent of being a daily sub that can take a beating and a driver that could be competitive in the lanes all at a relatively affordable cost. I think so far with the short time I have played with my Omega 12’s Alex has achieved his goals. After installing the subs for some initial testing I was once again surprised. Both subs were installed in an extra box I had that I used for an old 15 I had. I fitted it to house my 12’s and tuned it to about 42hz. My net volume was 3.8 ft3. Even in my make shift box that is very peaky the subs sound awesome. I have yet to be disappointed with their performance. I have 2 3000d’s strapped @ 2 ohms on the pair and they take the power with ease. The 2000wrms is a safe rating for the daily user. For those competitors or bass heads that want to throw gobs of power on their Omega I would not hesitate.
So far the driver has performed to my expectations. I have noticed on some tracks I loose some low end on some tracks but I believe it to be to my box design and tuning.
For the first time in quite some time I am satisfied with my sub stage. I have been overall impressed with the performance of my Omegas. With virtually no adjustments or gain setting and working with a 8 year old deck that doesn’t make any noise till its at 20 of 46 I was able to pull a 147 @ 45hz all sealed up on the dash. I will be installing the subs in more of a daily box tuned allot lower with a lot less port area. Hopefully results will be available this weekend. For any competitor or daily ground pounder the Omega will not disappoint. The output of the Omega is on par with other SPL/Daily subs i have ran and heard in the past.
