Default Powerbass 8" mids and custom Bullet tweeters...a small test!

Shot this for a friend interested in buying my alpine 9887, figured it would give me a chance to test out the new speakers before they go in the car.

System is as follows,
Alpine 9887 active

Powerbass 4xl 8" midrange (bandpass from 125hz at 24 octave slope to 5k with a 18 octave slope)

Custom "knock off" Beyma tweeters (similar to Audiopipe ATX-150) (Highpass from 5k up 24 octave slope)

Crescendo 1000c4 pushing all speakers at 4 ohm each.

Just a quick test vid, enjoy and comment.

those look nice where did you pick them up. Whats the going rate for a set.

I could use a bit more for my front stage, the substage really overpowers what i have now

The tweeters, I bought from a forum member on here, the only pair he had , however the Audiopipe ATX-150 looks exactly like this tweeter, im temped to pick up a pair down the road to compare and contrast.

I also got the Powerbass from a forum member on here. Their was a dude that was a Powerbass seller on the forum, (cant remember his name,) but maybe able to google for a dealer online.

Whats your current front stage looking like? Sub stage?

Crescendos still here, being saved for another car im working on, (be a while though)

Crescendos were a bit louder, but main advantage is they could be crossed much lower than these bullets. I could run the Crescendos at 3k off a 24 octave slope all day, but I would not run these bullets that low, their power handling drops very quickly. Plus, the size of the Crescendos became an issue, esp when I decided not to fiberglass my doors.

Bingo...friend tried same tweets, crescendo and APs, the APs was a good bit louder, but Crescendos sounded much better.

I have the Power Acoustik version bullets in my doors now, made loud...but a tad raspy on crappy quality songs....but ok for lossless stuff.

Them powerbass sound nice....i think i can fit 8s in my door as is, i might try em out.

You gonna cross them lower when u put them in kicks? i got my selenium 6s around 80ish

Yeah, these are my second set of Powerbass mids, (had the 6.5s previously) and these drop a bit lower in frequency.

Powerbass recommends a 200hz crossover point for the 6.5s with a 12 octave slope, but I ran mine with a 160hz crossover point with a much steeper slope (24) and they loved it, and so did I.

The 8s are recommend for 125hz point (12 octave slope) but im running them with a much steeper slope. I may drop the crossover point to 100hz when they get installed, but im already getting alot of midbass for a pro audio driver just with them free air set at 125hz, plus with a xmax of only 1.7mm i have to be careful not to set it too low and overwork them.

I would highly suggest the Powerbasses thought, bandpass or highpass they are some excellent pro audio drivers.

Ok, good to know. I still haven't hooked mine up "right", and wanted to know if they had better sound in them, or if I should just sell them to get something else. I have mine on about 60w at 3k, but they're kinda harsh to me. I think more power may be in order, or better placement. My mid bass sucks ass though, so they're not blending well at all. I was thinking of just going back and glassing my doors with a couple sets of 5.25 comps, and being done with it
