I like it, I do have a question though. When talking about how much power it takes to get a woofer moving, what do you normally want to go by. Take for the example the T.2000, 2000w rms. What do you think would be the minimum requirements for power on that? Or TSNS, would you think that it would work fine with someone like a crescendo 3k or sundown 3500? Does it depend on the woofer and the materials it is made of?

Yes it does depend on the woofer and the materials used.

Lets talk suspensions. Spiders can be made of cotton or Nomex or Conex, and can have different rates and heights and numbers of peaks and valleys and different widths. They can also be spaced or layered and have different numbers of spiders.

All of this has to do with vertical tension and horizontal tension. The key is to have as mush horizontal tension as possible to keep the coil in the gap and the cone linear but not to limit vertical movement too much. You do want to limit vertical movement enough as to not allow the coil to bottom out or pop out of the gap though.

the new spider setups we have been playing with at T3 still allows a T2000 and TSNS to operate well off of only a couple hundred watts and handle a few thousand watts.

Now something like the MTX RFL I had was super stiff. It used 4 super stiff spiders and a very stiff oversized surround. This all kept the coil centered in the super tight gap, but made it hard to move vertically. So it did handle a few thousand watts but with only a couple hundred watts, it would buzz and not really move.

Hope this all makes sense and helps.
