Default How much more power will I see @16v vs 12v on two 3500s.

Wats up guys, I have two bc3500s strapped at 1 ohm right now on two sundown zv3 18"s with four kinetik hc2400s . Pretty soon I will need more power for the new sundown niteshades that's coming out at the end of the summer. My two options are either two 5500's or sell my kinetik batts and buy some 16v xs power batteries. How much power will I see in the real world goin from 12v to 16v.

First it will take about 2:1 batteries when switching to 16v. Second you can expect to see aprox. 1000-1500 real world watts depending on load and electrical.

I think it's probably because that sub is not moving enough to allow it to cool.. Id turn the gain up a bit so it moves more for cooling reasons.. That's why it's hard on subs to be underpowered..

1000 to 1500 per amp?

You will want at least 6-8 minimum. The case size for 16v limits the amount of plates per cell.

well find out what your clamping then just use 16v instead of 12v amps x volts = watts

I thought the ratio was 3:2 16v's to 12v's?

If it helps you at all... I clamped a bunch of amps a few weeks ago on 13v versus 15.5v. The difference was around +1.5db from a single "3k" and worth ~ +25-30% power.

So it would probably be cheaper to stick with 12v and run the 2 BC5500's with 2 more HC2400's than to change to 16v and run the BC3500's on 12 D1600's.

$1959.99 - 2 BC5500's ($979.99 each)
$640 - + 2 more HC2400's ($320 each)

= $2599.99 Total

$3239.88 - 12 d1600's. ($269.99 each)

You'd save about $639.89 for relatively the same amount of output. Although the pros for the 16v setup out weight the diff. in price ($639.89). Plus, if you decide to run even more power and get 2 BC5500's anyway, you'll have even more power output. You're spending a lot of money anyway, might as well go balls out!
