Default PWX-10 questions

Can I run a single PWX-10 with a FT-1 tweet in each door and have a balanced front stage? I would give them roughly 3-400w each (mids), and the tweets would get about 100ea. Can these mids play high enough to meet the tweets lower response without having a significant gap?

Also, would these mids be louder/sound better than the pair of Selenium 6s I currently run in each door on 200w? The 10 wins in cone area by about 20sqin, but these Seleniums are pretty damn loud. I just can't fit anymore in my doors without a lot of work I don't want to do right now

Never used the PWX, but I have had a 10" PA mid,.. I went from a pair of Whip Audio 10" mids to (4) Powerbass 4xl 6.5s, with the same power total (500w) the 10s were much louder than those 6.5s, might be the difference in cone area and sensitive but it was noticeable.

Im pretty sure the Crescendo PWX 10s should play up that well, but those tweeter will play down to 3k (I think) and that would be fine. Ive had small bullet tweeters like those before and they are very loud despite their size.

that gives me hope, lol. I like the look of a single larger mid, over a couple of smaller ones any day. I'll get the mids first, and then save up and get a pair of the tweets once I sell mine

FT1/FT1-SE

Usable frequency response: 2800hz-2800khz
Ideal highpass crossover point for most people: 3400-5000hz

PWX 10"

Usable freq response 68-4800hz

It should definitely work but I would try to separate the freqs more between a 10", a 6.5" and a tweeter. Would sound cleaner/clearer IMO.

If I could fit a 6" and a 10" in my doors, then I would just add another 6" or 2 of what I already have honestly, but thats not an option without major door reconstruction that I'm not going to do in this car.

I'm just glad to know that I could get away with this without lossing to much freq response.

Ok, although it's not that hard to fiber glass or make a door panel enclosure.

The setup should work though if properly setup correctly.

It'll actually be another glassed enclosure, but my doors are already done, so the only thing I'm willing to change are my pods. I can glass, so thats not an issue.

We do in fact recommend a PWX6 to cover the transients more efficiently when wanting to run a PWX10 and supertweeter IF space isn't a constraint, making your mids/highs setup a dedicated 3way. In your case you can't refab your doors to make a 6.5" fit as well, but don't worry 2way with the 10" is still a viable option. With minor EQing right at 3khz on the PWX10" you will be fine and there will be minimal frequency degradation in the high-mid range.

Just bump up 2-3 db around the 3khz range for the pwx10 and good to go. Cross the FT1 at 4000hz at 18db/slope (if you can choose slopes on your headunit) or 4000hz at 12db/slopes and lowpass the 10: at 4000
