so i recently picked up a bc2k to replace my brz1700. its a hell of an amp.... i dont care if the boards are the same layout the difference is huge. identical size and the weight difference is huge. ive had to get used to getting a seriously good grip on the nendo cause i almost dropped it the second time i picked it up. it wouldve fallen 6" onto the back of my seat but still its heavy as hell.
anyways bought it used was told by the seller it had had issues where itd only work in slave mode. was told it was repaired by tim webb. talked to him about it he confirmed this i believe he said he had to replace an op amp. anyways it works great in master now so idgaf.
so i hook it up and everything seems to be working normal, so i go to set the gain expecting to be able to use the bass knob and it never lit up. i have a 4v pioneer which ive measured to do a solid 2vac cleanly on a -5db 40hz tone. its also clean at 0db. does full 62/62 on the deck CLEAN. i love this cus i just keep turning til it dont get louder and i dont have to be like, "oh well i can only go to 28/35 or 37/45(kenwood/sony) before it clips..). ive seen an excelon not do full tilt clean i got lucky with this unit i bought from terry brocks.
so ive tried troubleshooting this issue. so far ive thoroughly inspected the board of the amp and bass knob. nothing seemed odd or out of the norm. i hooked a dmm up on diode test and it lit right up. i bought a new cable today because the one i recieved with it was looking fairly questionable like the bend radius had been exceeded. picked up a 7' rj12 cable from one of my local telecommunications suppliers for $2.95. no dice still. KEVGNAR said he had a similar issue. the board on the knob consist of a jack, 3 resistors, 2 leds, and a potentiometer. everything but the clip light works on my knob. the resistor thats in series with it is not burnt up. im at a loss for thought as where to go from here. hopefully someone can chime in. im sadly beginning to think its the amp. but the board looks fine
