Default hi or low for rca input?

I chose what was louder...but what is better?

Unit is 4v.

Both amps can take up to 10v...

Should I be using a line driver to the amps for 8v~?

S1500.1, s800/4

What do you mean by a nice medium?

Should I just leave it on the louder setting and stick with a 4v unit and disregard a line driver?

by medium i mean 1v sucks and leaves to gain cranked high but 10v or 6v for that matter can cause protection to activate and over input. so find a happy medium. 4v is plenty

Ditch the line driver, the deck 4v is plenty. The power difference is zero, the amps rail voltage doesn't change. The advantage is with the deck's voltage, there is more dynamic range in 0-4v than 0-2v. The amps gain will boost the signal to the rail voltage either way. If anything it will likely "color" the music, I've played with quite a few op amps and they all sound different.
