Default Uhh... What just happened?

Get home from school, power up my amps, and I go to play a song. Its a chopped version of Beats 4 My Van. Literally 15 seconds into the song(where the pause in the bass is) I smell burning coil(or at least I think it is. Smells just like hot clutch).

So I turn it down and inspect: The sub rubs like it's blown if I push on the cone, but both coils read the same as day 1 (1.2 ohms).

Sub is a level 5 15, 2 xtra medium spiders. Box is 3.8 [email protected]

Amp is a crown XLS 5000, gains set with dd1, -0db track, but turned down the gain to get a clamped 2500 watts out of it.

so it rubs when you push on it?

If its blown theres nothing DC can do but get you a recone. Those subs have no warranty.

I've blown a coil in my XL a couple times but each time the coil read some crazy number like 580 ohms, sounds odd that it still reads the normal impedence.

playing under tuning will do this sounds like the chopped song is like under 20hz and it over heated the coil giving you coil rub
