Default Why Level 4 vs. Level 2?

I'm looking at the specs of the Level 2 sub and it looks to be a really solid performer for the price with high BL and good xmax. Other than power handling would there be any reason to upgrade to the Level 4? The 4 has a bit more xmax but a lower BL-seems to me the LVL 2 is a better buy?

Bl is lower probably due to the sub being a dual 1 or dual 2.vs the lvl2 being a dual 4 to get an accurate comparison you need to do bl^2/re most subs are measured in series so the dual 4 will be around 7.6 and the dual 2 around 3.8 if dual 1 it's probably 1.9

I'd be comparing the D2's. Main reason I'm asking is a dude here locally has a nice price on a Level 4 and if it's worth it I'll go that way.

Bl^2/re on the lvl 4 is a bit higher but not much. Depending on your power available box used and goals it's really tough to say which would be better for you

As it was explained to me a higher BL has more strength and work "harder" over a given distance. Like if two speakers had the same Fs and xmax the one with the higher BL would be louder? Am I mistaken?

the one with the higher bl would be (in theory) louder per watt but theres a ton in the mix still. take your example. they can have the same fs, same xmax and higher bl on one BUT the suspension could be a ton stiffer and moving assembly a lot heavier. BL is a static measurement so only valid at a stand still just like FS doesn't dictate freq possibilities.

If you are just doing a straight switch on same power I don't think it would be worth it if you invest in a custom box and future power upgrade then go for it.
