Default Question about how low a DC 2k can be wired

I was gonna PM one of the DC vendors about this, but i didn't know how long it would take to get replied to, so I'll just post this here.

I'm in a position to get a 18in sub installed in my car, however, it's got a dual .7ohm coil.

So that gives me the option to either wire the sub to 1.4ohms or .35 ohms

Now, if I wire the sub to 1.4 ohm, after box rise, I'll be LUCKY if the sub sees 1k from my DC2k

However, .35 ohms seems too low of an impedance to run my DC2k at daily.

Can anyone tell me if the DC2k can handle being run at .35 ohms daily? I SHOULD have the electrical to back it up, my current sub is wired down to 1 ohm and I am not seeing ANY voltage drop at all

If you dont run the amp full tilt you may put a little less stress on it which may be okay.
Cant speak for the DC amps specifically though.

Why did you get a D.7 sub, anyway? Do they actually read .7 nominal?

DCP 210 amp PRO alt, and a C&D UPS-12 490 batt in the trunk, I'm talking about having my electrical system in the car be powerful enough to maintain the amp running at .35ohms

Like I said, I THINK it should be enough, not 100% about it though

i dont think thatd be enuff honestly...if u wanna run an amp BELOW 1ohm (this is a general thing but i always go with the lower impedence), u shuld have enuff alt power ALONE to power the amp...with the 210a alt, ur not seeing 210a to the amp and that amp is gonna draw more than 200a @ .35ohm, even with rise, if u get the amp to even turn on...if ur alt doesnt have more than ur rated fuse rating, ur ALWAYS drawing from reserve (batteries) and i dont think itll be enuff honestly

wasn't my choice, it was already built like that, it was the only coil the builder had that would fit the motor he has on it, and I'm in the position to pick it up.

I have the cash to pick up the sub and another DC2k, but I'm not trying to drop the money on ANOTHER DC2k, I just got mine a few months ago

Technically, my alt puts out 216a at 2k rpm, and the DC2k is rated to be fused at 200a, so I should JUST match the power it's going to take, but you also have to realize, it's not going to draw 200a+ CONSTANTLY, which is why I think my electrical system SHOULD be enough to handle the low ohm load.

But that's besides the point, I want to know if the DC2K can handle being wired to .35 ohms nominal without damaging itself

that alt wont give the amp that much power tho...u gotta take into consideration that the alt has gotta power the rest of the car too...and personally, i wuldnt wire that low unless i was burping it...if it can be wired that low, ur gonna seriously decrease the life of the amp at that low ohm...and grab another dc2k!!!!!...go big or go home!

almost every single person on this forum has amps that draw more current than their alt is rated at.
I say upgrade the batt under the hood as well and u will be fine.

I drive a 1998 honda civic, I don't know of ANY decent car audio batteries that will fit in the stock battery's location
