Default Box size for a pair of XL 15s ok?

This is my old box I had built by Mike at AMI Creations last year, its a bit over 6 cubic feet net with 68 of square port tuned to 32hz.

I was wondering, would this be ok for a pair of XL 15s on a Crescendo 3500 @ 0.5 ohm? (about 4k RMS). Could I use a Crescendo 5500 on the pair in the same box @ 0.5 ohm? (About 5500w RMS)

I pmed Rob aka Thorshammer a while ago about it, and I want to say he gave me the thumbs up on the box, but I deleted it a while ago and wanted to make sure before i commit to this, lol. Thanks.

It will work. but could do much better. Like around 7 cu ft with like 100 sq in of port tuned from 32 to 36 would be nasty off that power

that box will be just fine and will be even better off of the 5k amp. Normally I would recommend about 3.5ft3 per sub after displacements and 16-18in2 of port per cube.

12 to 16 inches of port per cube is the general "rule"...but most tend to go a tad more port area 18 to 20" sometimes for that deep rich sound but make the woofer unload more..

the box u got would work yes..but its got minimal port area n id use the 3500d at 1/2ohm ..save money over the 5k amp and do basically the same thing..bc ud never notice the 1k rms differance to the ear lol

Thanks for the info fellas and sorry for the delay response, just been a bit tied up.

If i go this direction, ill prob go with the 5k at 1ohm, I agree with you Jacobs93, I wont hear the 1k difference between the two amps, lol, but the 5500 making the power @ 1 ohm will be a bit easier on the subs esp the leads.

If I wanted to do something for a daily box, how would 6 cubic feet tuned to 35hz using (2) 6" areo ports do?

Box will work just fine although like stated would prefer more port area. 2 6 in aeros will also work well.
