Default Dd z18

Alright, I have 2 sheets of birch and some resin... I need experienced SPL input for a box for one of these nasty subs. I have 2 M4a's to strap on a dual .7ohm Z18. I plan on using 1-2 8" aeros. This is a daily setup for SPL. My comps are based on a rolling average strictly using music. No burps. Should I go for big box with alot of port area or should I go with 4-5cubes and one port. This will be in a 2dr HB escort. Sub up port back. Frequency will be between 42-48hz. I don't want to go too high and kill my demos. I do like to play some chopped and screwed stuff for demos and I am aware it wont be as loud or as good SQ tuned at above freq but I just don't wanna tune in the 50s.

First thing that comes to mind is a lot of port area.

Ya I think two 8s is enough, I would plug one for daily, that will drop the tuning tremendously.

6.5 cubes should be the smallest you are thinking with that power. (2) 8's for tuning and plug one for daily.

Wow really? Man I never had such a woofer or power. Should I get a dual 2 and strap these at .5 each?

This is a big Z? Id say more like 4.5 with that kind of power. And lots of port.

The lighter weight parts will make it like the "smaller" enclosure too, in my experience anyway. Ive tested with both reg 95, s/c95, z95, all carbons w/95z coils and they performed best (spl wise) in 3 cubes w/60" of port. Keep in mind these were all 15" woofers with a good bit of power on them. Only way to really tell is to test and test and test. I start at "recommended" enclosure size and keep shrinking.

BTW all the metering I do is on music I only compete in "local" classes in MWSPL because they wont let me compete in their classes because I have two batteries under my hood.

I don't know what a "big Z" is or what the different models and motors and all that shit is, but I had my DDZ 9518 in 6.5 on 3k clamped and it was giggling at it. I did notice that that box a "big" sound to it though. I can't imagine an 18 in 4 cubes in a daily.
