Default Have you seen this type of box before??

So a long while back, I was talking to a guy who designed a box for me but I lost communication him and never got designs. I dont like normal looking boxes (mines pretty normal minus it being painted in bed liner) but anyway, I wanted to make this box and see how it sounded and all that good stuff. So pretty much I was hoping someone could possibly help me out with the dimensions or ideas of how to start to figure this out. So I'm not wasting money and building a bad box.

WTF?? I'm not that great a box designer but looks like that back chamber is wasting a lot of space.

I've seen this before. want to say it was called an ABC design or something like that. It has two different ports completing different things. I may be wrong

yeah. not sure the relation to the driver though. google ABC speaker box and there are a few threads explaining it

As to the OP. I do NOT recommend building it. Not many build boxes like this anymore and the specs are far from guessable. I would list what kind of sub(s) you have, power, vehicle, and listening goals so someone on here can get you a design on a good, simple ported box. Would be much easier to build and it'd be a confirmed design.

it is an abc, or "Aperiodic Bi-Chamber" similar to a 6th order except both ports exit the box, where a 6th order has one chamber ported into the next. its an 8th order. crazy acoustic theory shit right here, VERY difficult to pull off. i know i couldnt do it... hope this helps though.

^^^
also i got an 03' trail blazer and I got xs power vcm, 3 Deka Grp 31s and 1 signal processor hooked to bass (soundstream Mp6xo)

and im a huge music buff so i want a daily box that can throw down at comps (i know i cant/is hard to have both in one box). might just make a new box with an attachable port.

It's a abc
Or really a dcr (dual chamber relex)

It has 2 chambers and 3 ports, all 3 ports are the same dimensions and the 2nd chamber, one without the sub, is 1/2 the cf of the chamber of the first

You tune the first chamber using only one port and required size for the driver, then add a port coming off the chamber identical going to the 2nd. Chamber that is 1/2 the cf of the first, then the third identical port exits out of the 2nd chamber

So if the first chamber is 1cf tuned to 30hz there will be 3 identical ports, one exiting the first chamber tuned to 30, one connecting to the 2nd. Hamber that is .5cf and the third port exiting the 2nd chamber tuned one octave higher, in the example 60hz.

When the sub plays below the upper tuning of 60hz the port connecting the larger chamber to the smaller chamber builds up alot of resistance and basically cancels out the 2nd chamber making it only use one port at a time, making it act just like a ported enclosure, then when the lower port has no effect on the sub, the upper tuning can take over and act as a high tuned ported box

It has great output, great bandwidth, but is super large due to 2 chambers and having 3 ports

I built one for a sa8 and it was ok, it was loud from 50hz up but I don't think the port was big enough to dig down to 30hz efficiently

I wouldn't recommend this unless you have ALOT of room to spare
You may want to look into a 6th order or some type of horn enclosure but any enclosure that has great bandwidth and is efficient is going to be large
