Default Where to place sub in ported box. HELP!!

I built a box for a 12" jl w7. Now as I go to cut the hole for the sub, I found i dont know where to place it for best results. Do i try to keep sub farthest from the port opening? or do i center it? pick what picture looks like the right place for the sub. thanks!

I agree. Usually furthest from port is ideal

does anybody else feel that putting the sub there looks weird though? since its right next to the port. im thinking i might center it for better looks, but how much will that effect output?

I honestly don't believe there will be much of an audible difference and as far as appearance, centered does look the best.

Never put form over function
If someone doesn't like the way it looks close the trunk

Yea I agree on centering it..you gotta draw that line between how it looks and how it performs..like the unfinished boxes that are thrown in comp vehicles IMO look kinda ugly and just thrown together without much attention to detail but then if they just took an extra hour to paint the inside of the port and paint and or wrap the box in vinyl, leather or carpet and from something that simple it can make that "cheap thrown together" box into a "Show car looking enclosure" and till retain the good sound
