Default Question about boxes built into the floor of a hatch

So Im looking to build a box that is in my floor, so that it looks like the stock floor of my hatch, but is actually mdf w/ carpet and a 12" sub in the middle, for looks, and space saving ect. Would I just build a false floor out of say 3/4 mdf that is the same as the floor in there now and would take place of it, then just build a box with no top and slap it to the false floor and put a mounting hole in it? or is there more to it then that? I have a scion tc, im getting out of big systems and more into cosmetics/performance. Im looking at lets say a single sa12 or maybe 2 sa10s sealed off.

Like I did in my wife's old Scion?

Basically I did that. I used a particle board I had laying around tp get the shape of the drop in, then transferred it onto MDF for the cutout, then mounted the box with no top to the underside and cut the hole.

when there is a spare tire well I tend to skip the box part of it and just mount a baffle direct to the floor. most spare tire wells are super strong and don't need much to deaden them.

To get the most space and less weight dont use mdf. Use birch ply with at LEAST 7ply. Also instead of using a box like pics that were posted above, you can fiberglass the spare tire well and use the sheet of birch as the baffle and just attach it.
