Default Silverado box help

So I just did a instal for a guy with a 12 fi q in a sealed box on the back seat of a Silverado with a crescendo 2k and it's not loud enough for the guy so now he wants to do 2 12 ssd to hopefully get louder. He listen to rock and metal and wants to have the quick punch so should I do a sealed box again or ported and of ported what kinda port area and tuning for quick response.

Size of box would be the issue with it bottoming out. 1 12 should be in roughly 2-2.25 cubes ported, tune it to around 35-38 hertz. That q will still drop decently low at that tuning and you'll still have punch and your higher end. As for port stick between 12 and 18 square inches of port per cube. sub up port up on the driver side. Or sub forward port up on driver side. Brace the heck out of it as well as the port, this is the reason quite a few ported enclosures sound like a$$, because they are flexing. If you do the 2 12" ssd's stick around 4 cubes subs forward or up and port up driver side. same 12-18 square per cube (shoot for around 14) and brace the heck out of it. I prefer to make as wide of a port openning as I can and still get the tuning and everything that I"m looking for. Never built an enclosure that didn't suprise me using these rules of thumb.

The current setup for the q 12 is sealed at 1cubes do idk y bottoming out. But will the ported with that much port area have fast punchy bass for metal and what tuning like 35. He wants the keep the q in the seal box so he can switch them out for space on trips.

Yeah you should have 0 issues with that basic spec. I'd say tune more to 38ish but a misconception is that ported boxes are sloppy bass. This is not valid. Another is bigger subs sound sloppy. Also quite untrue. The reason you're bottoming out.... tiny a$$ sealed enclosure, and 2k on a 1k sub in said enclosure. The specs on the website are for the particular sub on the rated power that the manufacturer suggests. Not same box and and double the power.

nah I doubt it. what are the settings right now on your amp? Normally when a person gets a little bit happy with the input and bass boost there is distortion. I have watched a fully loaded BTL 15 bottom out in 3 cubes ported on 1k before. Checked the amp settings which were maxed bass boost and maxed gain and reset everything and not an issue with them again.
