best speaker wire terminal?

Just finished a box build, and I really didn't want to put a plastic speaker terminal on the box for multiple reasons. Just ran wire through the port for now. I see a lot of guys using threaded rod, and I'm just wondering how good that method is, and how you properly seal that after. I'm open to any other suggestions as well.

On another note, is 8 gauge wire sufficient for running 1500rms to a single sub?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Get brass bolts, washers for each side, nuts and a wing nuts. All brass.

Put ring terminals on the wires, hook it on the bolt, put a flat washer on, put it through the box from the inside, put the other flat washer on, put the nut on and tighten it down. Be careful, brass is fairly soft.

Then put ring terminals on your other wires, put it on the bolt and run your wing screw down.

Makes it easy to take off/change and transfers electricity fairly well.

And 8awg is more than enough.
