Default What type of enclosure is this?

I have messed with 6th orders before with great success, but I am currently using a ported box. The subs are unloading on the low notes due to port placement and I was considering trying something like this. What type of enclosure would this be and would it be successful?

It's like a series tuned 6th order, but instead of the subs firing into the front chamber they are firing into the cabin of the vehicle.

A buddy of mine wanted me to build him a box that looked like this "cause it looked cool" and it was the worst sounding box ever. It seamed like the pressure didnt build up enough between the ports to produce a punchy enough sound. Very muffled

this would be a dual chamber reflex, if the section with the sub is 2x bigger then the other one, and all 3 ports are the same
they work well when build properly

I can't see the first pic, but that last pic is known as an "ABC" box, isn't it? Aperiodic Bi Chamber?

I built one of those a while back. It does work. 1/3, 2/3 with (3) equal length ports tunes up one octave.

this is true it is an abc but to be more specific the chamber with the sub is the 2/3rd chamber and all 3 ports must have equal port area as well as equal port length

How much port area per cube for an ABC box? I'm willing to try it

build the front chamber to the air space that the sub calls for on the spec sheet use a port that is between 8 and 12.5 per cube and tune low about 25-35hz the smaller or higher tuned chamber will be almost 2xs higher than the larger chamber (for example 30 in front will be 57hz in the rear) the result if done properly should be a box with great low end out put and still have the ability to play higher and have good musicality. if you use higher tunings it has the ability to be a good spl enclosure as well.

what does an abc enclosure sacrifice? most boxes sacrifice something like high end output, efficiency, etc. what about this box?

this is correct it has been a while since i have built one so i overlooked this good catch. it is the same as a 7th order except it has the port conecting the 2 chambers whereas the 7th doesn't, that is what makes it also considered an 8th order.
