Default Hd3 18 In the hatch Need help with box!!

Box is for a 93' mazda mx-3 hatchback (kinda like a bubble window)
its going to be a hd3 18
MAX dem's i can fit is 30 across 24 back and 20 tall
i want sub and port facing up towards the back glass. i was using the re box calc and only way i can get the tuning down to 32-35 with the sub and port up is with a L port which im not a huge fan open to any suggestions i really want to try to stay in 5-6 cube range with the 18 and the max dem's i mentioned is pushing it now

personally i would use the max space you can. also how big are you planning on making your port? are you going off of the general rule of thumb of 16 square inches of port per cubic foot of box volume? also i would personally suggest doing sub up, port back. being that your car is a hatchback you will see a little more db gain. I used to have a single HDC3-18 in my tiburon and that is the box design i found to work best in my hatchback and there was also a noticeable difference in how loud it was and sound quality as well. (Also when i had mine, i tuned it to 32hz and it killed the lows )

Yea im cutting it close now tho at 16:1 its about 100-108 in port area with the design ive got its [email protected] 34 hz and after all the disp ill be down to around 5 cubes :/ and im trying to use all the back of the hatch and my only issue with the port back is there isnt but 24 inches of space from the back seat to the back of the car so with a 18 to get it to fit and still have the rear fireing port its cutting it close for space

5 cubes will be alright for that sub. I guess port up would work with an L port but how long does the port need to [email protected]? Also how wide is the opening? Im almost thinking you'd be better off doing 14:1 instead of 16:1. There wont be a noticable difference and you'll probably be able to have a shorter port length/narrower opening which may allow you to do sub up port back. (unless you really want to do sub up port up)

either way, you shouldn't have an issue with doing an L port.
