Okay guys. I'm trying to shoehorn my two Lanzar OPTI1535Ds into my Eagle Talon. Lanzar recommends 2.5 ft^3 tuned to 35, this seemed small to me but the suspension isn't as stiff as most drivers because they use spaced spiders, so I figured anything bigger than 2.5 cubes would be fine.
My max enclosure size in the car is 12.75" H x 32" W x 36" D. That gave me 6.39 cubes before port displacement. The subs are inverted. I figured I would use an 8" Sonotube for a port to keep box volume as high as possible.
Design 1: 6.10 ft^3 at 32 Hz
This did a 145.3 at 41-43 Hz on 1500W before rise, but there was no low end below 33 Hz. I believe the port was unloading so I decided to modify the box.
Design 2: 5.65 ft^3 at 28 Hz
Lowered tuning since I had room for a longer port. This design was pathetic. The subs unloaded HORRIBLE for some reason, even though the box is smaller, and the port barely moved any air.
Anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong? I have designed boxes before and never had a problem, now I'm at the threshold of wanting to sell everything because these designs should work fine on paper, yet they are miserable.
