Default Digital Designs NOOB

Hello. I have recently purchased a DD 2512 and I have NO CLUE what to tune it to. This is my first DD sub and looking at the specs I am a little hesitant to fab a box tuned to 40Hz because I have never ran anything tuned that high. I was considering tuning my box somewhere between 35-37 Hz. I listen to everything- rap, hiphop, classic rock, country, jazz, latin. I was wanting to build a full size box according to DD specs but needed a little input on tuning. It will go into a 2005 Cobalt SS (little car with fold down seating) so if anybody has a proven box design or has any real world experience with this dilema please give me some input. I am VERY anxious to start my build but I need a little direction. Thanks.

i had a DD2515 in a 4cubes and 37Hz ... it got loud and moved some air but i was not impressed with the "deep bass"

... and the best choice is twards 40s ... 38Hz would still go but for your music styles i would use a 6" aeroport (cause it plays a wider band of frequencys than slotport)

Man, you chime in on every DD thread and complain about their lows when you've already been proven wrong. Yes, they have light soft parts. Yes, their Fs is high, but they can dig. Is it Tantric Sounds low? No. But they're a capable woofer.

Your box recommendations will depend a lot on what power you have, but 2.5cf is a good general box unless you plan to run more than 1k to it. And I thnk 37hz is a good tune for that woofer with lots o' port.

Also, if you have the space, the 2500 series is great in a 4th order bandpass. You get a nice gain at or near tuning and you can still catch "the deep bass" as Psiho like to say.

@AudioPsiho- thanks for the input. My installer said something about using his Termlab to play with port lengths until we came to something that pleased me but it would be a lil time consuming and that port displacement and net cubes would fluctuate a little but it should still be close to what I want.
@T-Fade- currently I am running a 08Kicker ZX 750.1. Not the best amp, I know, but it keeps running and its reliable like "Old Faithlful". Anyways, I plan on breaking it in with that and see how it sounds running @RMS but I do plan on upgrading to something in the 1000-1200 watt range in the near future. Maybe Sundown, Atomic, DC, etc. Im not sure yet because I wanted to treat myself to a new set of 18" wheels and some lowering springs for my birthday HAHA decisions, decisions...

I'm not a huge fan of Kicker woofers, but they're amps are great. Don't downplay it because it isn't Sundown.

A 2512on a Kicker 750 will be a sweet little setup. Say... [email protected] Tasty little sub stage.

for daily i used to have my 9512 in a box tuned to 35hz. it played everything except the really low stuff. if you like to have some of the lower bass i would tune it a little lower but no less than about 32hz for you taste in music. i like the really low lows and that is why my currnt setup is tuned to 28hz and the higher bass does suffer some but not tooo much because of the enclosure that ric designed.

If you go bigger itll play lower....and with that power id go bigger anyways.

2.5-3cu tuned around 35-38 would wreck....if you dont listen too reallll low you could go up to 40hz and itd still play low 30s with ease
