Default Torres question

Ok, there are two 2.5" ports and length is 26.75 (physical port length is 21"). Box depth is 25", Torres is telling me the ports bend. The ports would NOT bend, right?

How? I thought your inner port wall is the physical port length (21")

The length of the port is measured down the middle but the physical length is measured down the side. If the port is close enough to the back of the enclosure, the port will actually turn even though there is no physical material there.

Take for instance this enclosure below. Even though the physical port length is some 14.75" long, the port length is 18" because it makes a right turn.

So in your example wouldn't the physical port length be 11.75 not 14.75? I'm sorry for all the questions, Im just tryin to understand!

Sorry, I was recalling the length before looking at the picture.

Yes, the physical length is 11.75. Add to that the 2 x .75 of the double baffle and you have 13.25, plus the further drop and right turn of 2" each, and .75 for the port material. That's 18" which is what Torres calculates.

(Torres says the physical length is 12.5, but it doesn't take into account one of the baffles. It assumes the second baffle sits inside the port panel)

The actual length of that port would be 25", not 26.75. I think I know what the problem is though.

Torres doesn't have an option for multiple slot ports, only aero ports. If you've tried to calculate it by using a 5" wide port and then splitting it when drawing it up, you'll have changed the frequency. Splitting a port will require a slightly longer length for duals over a single. Try it on this calculator and you'll see the difference -

Yea when I enter 2 ports @ 2.5w x 13.5h with 4 cubes ( i am assuming it asks for net volume) it says length should be 31.08". What should I do?

Um, make them 31" long??

The only way you'll be able to get them shorter while having the same tuning will be to drop the port area, but then you risk increasing the vent velocity.
