Default hmm... opinions/ideas?

so i recently built a test box for my hatchback with the goal of reaching 150db. anyways, i use my system for daily driving. I've noticed that with my previous boxes i've built that when i put my ear next to the port at any volume; there is more definative bass. (only way i could think to describe it) so with my current test box it seems like theres nothing moret than air being pushed from the box and it lacks "low end" bass.

any ideas?

Sounds like a burp box....

Low end is pretty much exactly what it says, the low end of the audible frequencies. That's 20-35hz-ish, where as SPL is gained in the 40-50hz range due to a vehicles resonant frequency amplifying the bass.

Im going for a total tuning of 40hz and trying to build for sb1. So music is a must. I dont want just a burp box but right now thats not looking so good

my opinion is 40hz is too high for daily but should be great for spl. you will not be able to play very low at all. maybe 32hz the lowest you will be able to play. you run the risk of unloading the subs and blowing them playing low in a high tuned box. the only way that box would be good for daily is if you play rock, jazz or old school hip hop.
