Default EXPERIMENT: Compare response curves...

Little bit of a visual experiment here: Give me your opinions on these response curve models

-The red curve depicts how i THINK the boxes will perform
-The orange/yellow lines are fluctuations due to cabin-based affects
-The teal line is just a raw box model with zero environmental considerations

If both could be built, which would you use and why? Remember, this is strictly based on the response curves only!

All you box gurus and wanna-be experts with e-boners, please play along without turning the thread into waffles.

What is "turning into waffles?"

Is this a 6th order? How did you come up with the red line? How did you predict the orange and yellow?

I'll take teal, please.

Sorry for the confusion. Not which direct curve, which box design.

One is ported, one is a parallel 6th.

The point of the thread isnt to analyze how the curves were depicted though. I'm curious to see how people will pick their boxes.

If you compare the two, looking at the raw box model (teal) line, one box has lower response in the 30-40hz range and one has a higher response. However, with the effects of the cabin, they model rather similarily.

EDIT: "waffles" as in people who know what their talking about (or have no idea) making this more complicated than it needs to be, as this is just an experiment based on peoples choices visually.

#2. You can maniulate the slight bump(if there is one) and achieve a flatter response over a larger BW.

for clarity, i believe i would opt for the parallel 6th order,.. less processing needed to flatten 'er out further to the ear and is already built with a somewhat ideal (to me) h/p rolloff to work with. although, they are inherent with their own flaws

im working on one right now with a 40-80hz bw for a pair of hdc3's,.. if bbp6 is accurate enough with the stuffing properties, it seems that heavy fill will attenuate the peaks to an even more manageable plot.

<---still learning

Is your cabin gain calculated or hypothetical? If using the correct driver and built to perfection the 6th will do better theoretically, but real world I've not had great luck with 6ths even when they model much better. If using a 6th I would do series tuned as they are a tad more forgiving. Now without any outside factors if you want me to just k.i.s.s. then the 6th looks better on paper.
