Default two sa12's with 8" aero port...

Im about to throw together a quick box out of some scrap mdf and im thinking im gona try out this 8" pvc ive been waiting to try out on something.. Do you think that will be too big for a pair of sa12's? Im getting almost 4 cubes net with 12.5 sq in port per foot. tuned at about 34hz. Think that would work out good for them or not? Ill prolly put them on 1500rms, and atleast try them out on 3krms to see how they do

Also, its straight pvc, im going to heat it up and atleast round off the ends a little bit, but im hoping to actually bend the ends like an actual aero port if it works out. Im using torres box calc and im wondering if that thing includes flared ends or how that works?

I kinda of want to go with less box volume but then i think that will be alot of port for the box, any input on that? id rather have closer to 3.5 cubes or maybe less, just cuz i want to throw alot of power at them.

it will work well.

you do not need to flare the port at all.

Why do you say you dont need to flare it? Wont it possibly help with "port noise"?

Also do you think if i shrink the box down closer to 3.5 cubes that the port area will still be sufficient? I just dont want too much port area, and i dont really know what these subs like for boxes. I reconed them and they have not even seen power yet, pretty excited to try them out.

your port is excessive.

your concern that it is "too large" directly conflicts with the notion that it might have port noise.

the smaller you go box size, the more control the box will have on the speakers... but if you have a stiff suspension, they will be fine {above the tuning}

When you say my port is excessive, youre basically saying its too big then? But you just said it would work well. I think ill just leave the box at what it was first going to be, about 4 cubes. If it doesnt sound well ill try to modify it in some way since its just going to be a quick box.

That only holds true unless the port becomes extremely large per cube then it doesn't help at all.

it will work well.. but it will not have port noise. you could probably use a 6" without flares and still not have port noise.
