Default 2 HDC3 15's for competition.

Hey guys I'm just looking for some knowledge from someone that has a little more experience with Audioque than I do. I have these 2 subs right now in my daily driver tuned to about 34hz in only 7 cubes, but I'm getting in the high 40s on music. There's a competition coming up by where I live and I'm looking to build a new box for them. Basically what I'm wanting to know is what's you guys would recommend for cubic feet and port area. I talked to the guys at soundqubed and they aren't very helpful, they just told me their specifications on the website are for loud daily drivers. I've got an SAZ2000 pushing them right now and I plan on getting another and rebuilding the subs to dual 1s before the competition. I have plenty of space though so size restrictions aren't an issue. Any help or input will be greatly appreciated.

If you want to still play music and demo a little bit with it but hit a pretty decent number, Go big. I'll give you a ballpark idea. I put my single hdc3 15 in a box that was 4.25 cubes net. Slot port with 110 sq, hit high 146's at the headrest @43 hz. Sub up, port back in a suv. Wired at 1 on a dd m3a. Try at least 8 cubes. 150 sq inches of port should do it.

I've tried boxes from 2.5 cubes to 4.25. Many sizes of ports. It did very well in a small box. Just peaked in the 50s and was not musical. I have owned every line except the lowest. I run a couple hdc3 12s for a daily driver. Another food for thought. Tested the new 12 vs the old. One with the spacer and one without. The old one was louder by .5. I'll post up results one of these days! Good luck

I was honestly considering 5 cubes per sub tuned around 48hz. Have you heard of people using bigger boxes like that? This will be a competition only box.

That would not be a bad idea. Sorry. 4.25 was the biggest i've used cause I ran out of room. But don't even put "tuned to", lol. Honestly, the amount of port area is more important imo. On paper and programs mine was tuned to like 52 or something, peaked at 43. Spl is the 8th wonder of the world.

Is there anyone out there that's ever put one in 5 cubes? Or even 6 like the sight recommends?

Go big. Box, and especially port. You don't have that much power (relatively speaking) so you'll need efficiency and low rise. A big box will have a larger peak at tuning too.

What vehicle is this in?

Well I'm planning on getting another amp and giving each sub it's own amp at .5 ohm, so they'll be looking at roughly 3k rms. it's in an 07 ford escape. Set up I have right now is sub up port back behind my back seats but for competition I'll be laying the back seats down and the box will be below the lowest window and behind the b pillar but I've got more than 20 cubic feet to work with.
