Default what is the best material to build an economy enclosure?

i am looking to build a box for 2 IA DP'S 18" and was wondering if 3/4 plywood can be used? im trying to cut weight down otherwise id use mdf and if funds were available id use birch. any ideas ?

yes, Plywood can be used.
$26 per 4'x8' sheet should get you BC pine plywood.

very nice sonic, as usual you know your stuff. i got to look around alot of my hardware stores dont carry full sheets or even 3/4 . btw what does bc stand for ?i just want to make sure i get the right stuff.

BC means the top is B grade and is sanded kinda smooth. the bottom is C grade and is not very smooth.

I say instead of a hardware store. Try to find a wood place (can't thi k of the actual name ATM). They will have better quality stuff imo

lumber yard....

and you can get decent birch ply for $35 a sheet, so why not spend the extra $10. it may even save you weight.
just look at different places

the $35 birch is just regular ply, with birch veneer on the outside

Mdf is used for a good reason. second best is brich. but you cant copy the sound of a good mdf enclosure IMO. burch always has a weird sound to me. could just be plecebo

you can find the good stuff for cheap, even menards had it on sale a while ago, down from like $52 a sheet. i have a lumber yard local and they do seem to be a bit cheaper then most lowes or home depots
