Default A little fun with WinISD

hi all,

I read somewhere about people sayin Win ISD is not that accurate in calculated sub enclosure, just wanna share some stuff that i did with winISD.

My friend's competition SQ car just returned from the IASCA heats Thailand, getting 4th placed in the categories he took part in. He as pissed as hell, but the winning cars were really good.

This was his gear:

HU: Alpine #F1 + processor
tweeter+ mid range amp = Genesis 475 class A/AB( 4x 75)
Mid bass amp = Genesis Dual Mono Extreme(2x200)
front sun amp = Genesis dual mono(2x100)
Rear sub amp = Genesis dual mono extremem( 2x200)

Front spkrs :
tweets: Morel supremo Picollo
mid range: Hybrid ovation 4"
mid bass: morel supremo 6"

woofer
front sub( under the dash) :Morel supremo 9"
rear sub : Morel Ultimo 9"

For all those familiar with IASCA's SQ cd track 6, the superman track, that track requires A LOT of lows ( 18 hz and above), and getting the lows to come out and preventing the sub from overpowering the front was a challenge.

Initially he used a seal box (1.25 cub ft) for the sub, it was good for most of the other tracks, but the lows just wasnt there.

yesterday, we were fiddling around with winISD and so we had space limitation, we came up with effective net vol of ard 1.1, but ported at around 20 hz at first. 20hz gave us a very nice smooth curve with a nice gentle roll off

the effect was that, for the super man track, the extremely low parts all came out! but at the cost of some of the other frequencies.

THen we went back to fiddle with winISD, then we ported it at ard 24 hz.

It was not bad, but we just decided to screw ard with it more and did itported at 28 hz,

now it was rocking mroe at 28hz! and well, winISD predicted how the sub would react and well, i was pretty happy with it.

So just sharing with you guys this free programme is really quite good.

Cheers!

hahaha..

his speakers are cheap.

he lost to the champion DLS car in thailand. they say that car was INSANE!

Team DLS internationally is super strong.

If u think thats expensive, u haven seen more crazy sh1t! haha..

they're planning a speaker upgrade.

Friend tuned as much as he could, but the DLS new top of the line spkrs ( made by scans) is of superior quality.

Friend is goin mircoprecision Z series, that spkr ( 3 way) cos ard $6.5k USD!

its fragile ( made of some wood sh1t and covered in foil), but it sounds AMAZING!

DLS's ass got kicked last yr by that speaker!

I'm still torn between BB6P and Win ISD. I've used BB6P for years. Just recently started using Win ISD and agree it seems to be very accurate, not to mention FREE!
