Default Fi BTL N2 box

My friend is buying a Fi BTL N2 and im going to be designing his box. On their website they recommend a 2.5 cubic feet box and i figured i would tune it to the fs at 39.2hz.. He wants it as loud as possible but im not sure if tuning that high will pick up any of the lows very well?

any help is appreciated thanks!

I'd say tune it to 33 hz that way it will get good and low and should still be plenty loud 39 is just to high for most peoples tastes when it comes to music.

When did 39hz become 'high'?

For daily 39 is high in my opinion is it high if you want a one note wonder no. It seems high to me because I generally tune to 33 and lower.

The tuning alone doesn't determine the flatness of the response curve though.

Tuning to 39hz is 'not' going to create a one-note wonder - unless we're dealing with a very undersized enclosure - in which case, tuning lower isn't going to fix that...

A typical 38-39hz tuning yields peak performance around 45hz in vehicle, which is a pretty standard kick drum frequency for a large variety music. Granted, with all the electronic stuff out there, picking a tuning frequency becomes a bit more arbitrary - but it's a bit of a stretch at that point to claim one frequency is 'better' than another...

I wasn't suggesting that 39 would be a one note wonder style tune or that 39 wouldn't play flat I guess it really depends on what the op's friend listens to. Most people from what I see like a lower tuning myself included. With subwoofers with stiffer suspensions a higher tuning can be a good thing for instance DD and AQ both recommend pretty high tunings. The only way to figure out if it will play flat tuned to 39 hz is to build it I guess.
