Default first time building a box

hi

im building my first box with an obsidian 15" sub and a vibe blackbox amp([email protected], [email protected], [email protected]), its going in a 2001 dodge stratus. ive got the box built but wondering what to do with the ports and bracing. thinking of an aeroport, either 1 4" or 2 3" ports. not sure if i need any bracing or not. the dimensions are 13.5" high X 25" wide X 23.5" deep. i would like it tuned to around 30htz.. thanks in advance for any help.

ull need a 6" or 8" aero

bracing can be 2"x2"s ... or make right triangles and do 2 or so in each corner after ur ports in (to see where not to place them) and then 2x2 cross braces

I suggest two 4" normal ports 19.5" long. {5ft of 4" PVC will do the job.}

cut the 4.5" holes as perfectly as you can and then use 100% silicone to seal the ports in.

Aero's are NOT needed.

if you built the box well with carpenters glue, bracing is not needed either.
(maybe bracing will be needed someday if you buy a more powerful amp and a larger subwoofer)

wow, thats big ports. i was figuring about a 4" port. i saw someone use dowels to brace around the sub. also, what is thee best placement of the port, the sub will be facing up, should the port face up or to the front or back or the side?

thanks

It can be vehicle dependent... u count fit a port that long facing up..place them where sonic drew them... u can use dowel, just don't get cheap light wood and remember to pre drill...get 1" dowel or ur just wasting time/material... ull want to glue them as well

there is no reason to use schedule 80. schedule 40 works just fine.

Right, im mentioning that not all 4" PVC pipes are the same at local lowes/hardware stores...if he buys sched 80 on accident hell have 2 3.786" ports vs 2 4" (3.998")
