Default I think I have a problem...

OK so I don't know if I am just imagining things or if this is really happening.

Installed my new 3 Tantric HD 12's today. Wired at .67 on a single DC 3.5 right now... And I have another 3.5 coming in the mail to strap at 1.5

So the box is here... Ports go between the subs, and they JUST clear the bottom 1/4" of the magnets. If you look into the ports you don't see the magnets, they are not actually in front of the ports, and the baskets are the TI baskets so they taper down to the magnet quickly so the bottom of the driver is not like next to the port.

My issue is this. They "look" like the center sub is moving more on lows, along with the inside half of each of the outside two. If that makes any sense. It seems like on lows the outer subs are actually moving more like \ than like a flat upwards motion like it should... I am worried that the ports being centered are giving the center one easy access and then the inside section of the others are getting somewhat of the same affect leaving the outside halves of the outer two close to the wall furthest from the port.

I really don't know WTF to do right now. I just busted my ass building this ****ing box, and the thing plays great. But I am just not sure if this is actually happening or if I think it is or wtf is going on.

AS you can see, this box is about as big as I can go. So a slot port is basically a no go as it would make the box massive. I just cannot come up with anything else that would work. I am at a total ****ing loss right now.

The only two things I can come up with.

1. Saw off like 1" of the top of the inside flares, and put a board straight across the bottom of the subs to create a wall. That way the air has to travel around that to get to the ports. But I have no idea how that would affect things.

2. Bring the ports out about 3" to get them away from the subs, but that leaves me with the ports getting real close to the hatch, it will be ****ing ugly, and the ports would STILL be centered between the three.

BTW this is not done, still gotta do a beauty panel on the floor to match up with the box and hide the amps. Just ran out of time this weekend.

looks to me like the box is designed a bit wrong. you don't want the subs at the entrance to the port. they are going to unload and not use the full space available in the box.

what I would do;

buy black grille cloth, tape grille cloth over each inside open of each port. then put about 20lbs of Dacron evenly in the box.

Would a dividing wall work? Basically a board going across the bottom of the subs and extending past the top of the aeros so that the subs can't unload into the aeros?

You are having unloading issues, easiest was is to re-cut and mount the aero's closer to the sub's.

Could you double baffle and mount the subs further toward the back? (Or turn the baffle around) Ie: the motors would sit either side and in between the ports length.

This is the easiest fix. If you leave it as is - the middle sub will not live as long as the other two. It will have more excursion as it is unloading directly into both ports. Flip your baffle and let them use the entire box.

I cannot simply "flip the baffle".

I glued the crap out of this box, and screwed it.

I don't want the subs that far back in the car, they will murder the hatch worse than the ports already do.

The idea of needing another box is making me sick.
