Default Help! Box doesn't perform the way I hoped

Driver : DD 512 d4

Box : 4th order (my first attempt)

1.05 sealed side with 1.75 ported side. Slot port 2x13.5 that's 15.5 inches long. I believe this puts me in the high 40s on tuning.

Problem : box peaks WAY too low. It's an absolute monster from 25-32hz. Anything above 40hz is much quieter and kicks drums are almost not heard.

Amp: saz1200d at 2 ohms.

I'm thinking about taking a piece of the port out to increase tuning to upper 60hz range. Or should I play with objects in the box to decrease volume of one of the chambers?

Thanks in advance for the help

Have u tried giving it more power than 600rms? What's wrong with a strong low end (32hz and lower) and I weak top end (36 and up)? That's how I like mine, lol

The port you have is like a regular port for a ported enclosure, if you look at other 4th orders the port is wide and open and also short. You need to make the mouth of it a little wider and shorten it up, it you are comparing it to a ported enclosure time it into 50Hz first that way you can see if you'll like it. (It's always easier to cut vs add wood lol) hope this helps and add some pics of what you have now then when you finish so we can see progress :-)

I've tagged a pic of the inside, the sub is rated 350rms and after rise I'm sitting about 440 clamped on music.

I'm going to try and raise the tuning by making the port shorter today.

nothing wrong with it at all. its cool to play some of decafs lowest songs and feel the bass more than hear it lol. but that s not my everyday musical preference. I'm focused on a -3db bandwidth from 34ish to 65ish hz.

ok, so I removed the entire side of the box and port wall, shrink the port down to about 5 inches. raised tuning somewhere into the high 60's or lows 70's. made a HUGR difference. so now i'm going to play with some 3/4 mdf pieces to add anywhere from .75 to 3 inches in port length and see how it goes. wish me luck!

A slot port with 2 x 13.5 opening with 1.75 cubes is going to be tuned at 45-46 hz if it's 15.5 inches long. That's if the port doesn't bend, like if it just goes straight back.

it does bend, so that would explain why my tuning was so low. I was probably 42-44hz?

Ya, you were tuned low, relative to a 4th order.
