Default center console oppinions

Ok so I'm planning on buying 2 8" subs SA or similar & building a custom center console. From what I've searched already most people have different oppinions on this subject but tell me yours and why.

Should the subs be upward or downward facing and same for port.
I saw someone's center console box that I liked it had the box lifted few inches from floor and had downard firing subs & port. I am debating doing the same. Maybe adjusting port to rear but idk.

Opinions?

Pic of area you have to work with? Got any cardboard to build a mock-up as an example?

Pics of what you are trying to do?

Fiberglass or MDF?

Vehicle year and model?

Down firing the enclosure will give it something to load from and will make it sound louder. Facing the subs up can be akin to a trunk set up. If you pop the trunk and stand by the subs they don't seem loud but if you close the trunk and sit in the car they appear to be much louder. It has to do with transfer function.

i would do down firing with port to the rear. you dont have to worry about some clown damaging your subs b/c they can't see them.

Haha exactly. The gf keeps asking why is want to "hide them under the console" is rather not have someone screw a cone up
